About the Hakkoryu Jujutsu Program

(For more information please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it )

Hakkoryu Jujutsu is a traditional Japanese martial art that teaches the use of joint locks, throws and pressure points to “discourage”, “subdue”, or “control” assailants. The techniques taught in Hakkoryu Jujutsu have been adapted from traditional Japanese combat techniques into techniques appropriate for peacetime use.  This is a traditional Japanese martial art that teaches effective self-defense techniques for nearly any situation.

Hakkoryu Jujutsu encourages students to abandon strength and utilize natural body movements to most efficiently and effectively execute the techniques. Because of the lack of need for strength, these techniques are equally effective for women to use as they are for men, regardless of size, stature, or age.

Classes are offered to adult students age 16 and up, and meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30.

You are invited to stop in and watch a class, or to try one for free. Just give us a call!

The Head Instructor of the Hakkoryu Jujutsu Program is Shihan Walter Mackney, a 5th Degree Black Belt with over 25 years of martial arts experience, who has studied in Japan and has his rank officially recorded at the Hakkoryu International Headquarters in Omiya Japan.  Mackney recived his Shihan title and instruction directly from Nidai Soke, the head of the Hakkoryu Jujutsu system, at a private Shihan training camp held in Hawaii in October of 2008.
